Board members and officers volunteer for the time-consuming roles of selecting artists, overseeing contracts, reviewing budgets, managing ticket sales, and handling every other detail required to bring you the world's best chamber music.

Patsy Aronstein —President

Patsy AronsteinPatsy Aronstein is retired from Colorado Academy where she taught French. Prior to her position at Colorado Academy, she was an adjunct instructor of French at the University of Denver and University of Colorado, Boulder. Aronstein holds a B.A. in French from Colorado College and a M.A. in French Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Read more ...

Aronstein is currently a violinist with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra and previously played for 25 years with the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra. She also enjoys playing with several area chamber groups.

In addition to serving as board president for Friends of Chamber Music, Patsy also chairs the Music Committee. She joined the board in 2005 and has previously held the positions of secretary and vice president. She enjoys skiing, tennis, golf, and travel with her husband, Jim, and 3 sons, Will, Tyler, and Reid.

Lisa Bain —Vice President

Lisa BainLisa Bain is an attorney, most recently working at Welborn, Sullivan, Meck & Tooley, P.C.  She has also worked as a  U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in the Czech Republic and lived in both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.  Bain has a B.A. from Yale University and her J.D. from Cornell University Law School.  Read more ... 

Joining the board of Friends of Chamber Music in 2008, Lisa currently serves as vice president of the board and chair of the Outreach Committee.  She also serves on the Education and Outreach Committee for Opera Colorado, board of trustees at Graland Country Day School, and as docent and volunteer in the 10th Mountain Division Resource Center at the Denver Public Library.

An amateur cellist, Lisa also enjoys back-country skiing and speaking Czech.

Alix Corboy —Secretary

Alix CorboyAlix Corboy has performed with a variety of Denver chamber groups including The Playground, Augustana Arts, and the Denver Philharmonic.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in Music History from Temple University and a Master's Degree in Piano Performance from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.  Read more ...

Prior to moving to Denver, she served on the piano faculty at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and was affiliated with the Baltimore Choral Arts Society. 

This is Corboy’s first year on the board of Friends of Chamber Music; she is serving as secretary this year.  She is also a member of the Wednesday Music Party.  Her hobbies include traveling, gardening, reading and skiing.  Alix is married to neurologist John Corboy and has four children. 

Allan S. Rosenbaum —Treasurer

Allan RosenbaumAllan Rosenbaum is a Certified Public Accountant and Independent Consultant as well as Assistant Professor of Accounting at Metropolitan State College.  Previously he served as Chief Accountant for the Joint Committee on Taxation, U.S. Congress. Read more ...

Rosenbaum holds a B.S. from the  University of Colorado, a M.A.S. from the University of Illinois, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.  He has served as Friends of Chamber Music’s treasurer for for over 10 years, and also serves as co-chair of the Auraria Library Committee, Auraria Higher Education Campus. 

With his many accounting duties, Allan’s instrument of choice is the 10 key adding machine.

Kate Bermingham

Kate Bermingham currently works as a reading tutor, having previously taught grades K-2.  Previous positions include the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, where she worked in the marketing department, and the Colorado Historical Society.  Read more ...

Bermingham has a degree in Art History from Colorado College.  She has served on the board of Friends of Chamber Music for 12 years, recently completing a three-year term as secretary.  Kate is also involved in the field of Book Arts where she has shown work at both the Denver and San Francisco Public Libraries.  She wrote the educational companion guide to the compact disc recorded by Up Close and Musical, a local nonprofit providing chamber music programs in Denver area public schools. Other interests include graphic design and architecture.

Kate has two children in college.  Her favorite composers are Beethoven and Mendelssohn. 

Julanna Gilbert

Julanna GilbertJulanna Gilbert is Director of  The Center for Teaching & Learning as well as Associate Professor at Denver University’s Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry.  She has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Read more ...

Gilbert is a new member to the board of Friends of Chamber Music, serving on both the Marketing and Outreach committees.  She also serves as a trustee for the Bonfils Stanton Foundation.

Julanna is a carilloneur (carillon player) at the University of Denver.  She also enjoys chamber music, performing as violinist with both a string and piano trio.  Previously she was a 16-year
member of the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra.

Robert L. Keyser III

Bob Keyser

Bob Keyser is currently Principal/Consultant for The Keyser Group, an international public relations and crisis counseling firm.  Prior to The Keyser Group he served as Director of International Media Relations and chief spokesman for McDonald's Corporation, as well as Corporate Communications Manager and chief spokesman for the Adolph Coors Company. Keyser has a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in Education, both from the University of Denver, as well as a diploma from McDonald's Hamburger University.

Bob is in his second term on the board of Friends of Chamber Music and currently chairs the Marketing Committee.  He has previously served on the boards of the Colorado Children's Chorale and the Colorado Rocky Mountain School.  His interests include photography, wine & food, travel, writing, and reading.

Donna Kornfeld

Donna KornfeldDonna Kornfeld, along with her husband Ed, owned City Floral greenhouse for 35 years where Donna served as the manager of the retail store. 

Kornfeld holds a  B.A. from the University of Denver.  She has served on the board of Friends of Chamber Music for 13 years and helps to manage ticket sales. She is also a past board member of Hemlock Society and is a volunteer for the Denver Public Library, Schlessman branch.  Read more ...

John Lebsack

John Lebsack

John Lebsack has practiced law in Denver for over 30 years.  He has a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Denver.  At Yale, he studied piano with John Kirkpatrick, who in 1938 gave the first public performance of Ives’ Concord Sonata.  Prior to that, John studied piano with Eugene Evans in Sterling, Colorado. John is a past president of Friends of Chamber Music, serving on the board for over 20 years.  He is very active on the Music Committee.

Playing the piano is John’s favorite pastime, and Schubert is his favorite composer.  According to John, “There is something about Schubert’s B-flat Sonata that nobody else has matched.”

Lyn Loewi

Lyn LoewiLyn Loewi has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stanford University and First Prize in Organ from the French National Conservatory.  Her undergraduate work was at the University of Michigan, and she also studied organ at the Robert Schumann Institute in Düsselfdorf, Germany. Loewi serves on the Outreach Committee of FCM.  She is also on the board of the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, serves as Sub Dean of the American Guild of Organists, and as Music Director at Christ Episcopal.

Lyn is married to David Loewi, and they have three sons:  Alex, Peter, and Ethan.

Rosemarie Murane

Rosemarie MuraneRosemarie Murane is a retired social worker.  She has a B.A. in Musicology with graduate studies in music, as well as an M.S.W. degree from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work.  Other education includes a B.S. degree in Education from the State University of New York. Murane was instrumental in the formation of the Children’s Museum of Denver and The Girls Club of Denver.  She has been a member of the board of Friends of Chamber music since 1980, serving twice as president.  In addition, she is a board member of Saint Martin’s Chamber Choir and on the advisory board of the Colorado Young Musicians Foundation.  She previously served as board chair of Colorado Public Radio where she currently heads their Community Advisory Board.  Other trustee positions include Graland Country Day School and the National Association of Olmsted Parks. 

Rosemarie has studied piano since childhood and enjoys playing with friends.

Kathy Newman

Kathy NewmanKathy Newman is a broker/realtor with Re/Max Southeast.  She has a B.A. from the University of Denver and attended the Aspen Music School where she studied violin.

Newman recently completed a three-year term as president of the board of Friends of Chamber Music, and is actively involved with FCM’s outreach programs.  She also serves on the board of directors for Music Makers/El Sistema, and is the past president of the Junior Symphony Guild. Read more ...

Kathy’s parents were among the early patrons of FCM, taking their young daughter to the performances.  Kathy and her mom enjoyed reading the Beethoven scores together for many years.  Renowned New York artist agent, Thea Dispeker, was married to Kathy's uncle.

Kathy is an avid reader and is also very active, enjoying yoga, Zumba, hiking, and keeping up with her 6-year old granddaughter.

Richard Replin

Richard ReplinRichard Replin is a clinical psychologist.  He has an A.B. from Vassar College and a Ph.D. from Yeshiva University.

Replin has served on the board of Friends of Chamber Music since 1993, participating on the Music Committee and chairing the Production Committee.  Read more ...

He is past president of the Vassar Club of Colorado and is active with the Rocky Mountain Arts Consortium, College for a Day steering committee, and on the board of directors of The Playground Ensemble.  

Richard enjoys both early and contemporary music, as well as dance, ballet, and Renaissance art.  He is an avid skier, heading to the hills more than 60 days a year.

Myra Rich

Myra Rich is Professor of History at the University of Colorado Denver; recently retired but back working part-time.  She has a B.A. from Radcliffe College and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Rich is a long-time board member for Friends of Chamber Music, serving for more than 25 years and holding the position of president twice.  She is currently on the Music Committee and also works on ticket sales and subscription management.  Now finishing her second term on the board of Summer Scholars, Myra has previously served two terms on the board of the Colorado Children’s Chorale. Myra has played the violin, with experience with orchestras and chamber music.  Today she concentrates her time on the piano.  She also enjoys weekends in the mountains and spending time with grandchildren.

Suzanne Ryan

Suzanne RyanSuzanne Ryan served as Executive Director of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra for six years in the ‘80s, and also held the position of president on their board of directors.  She was also a member of the Denver Symphony Orchestra board from 1979-1988. Read more ...

Ryan has a B.A. from Northwestern University.  She has served on the board of directors for Friends of Chamber Music since 1990, serving as president for three years.  Additional board positions include the Colorado Symphony Foundation, Up Close and Musical, Englewood Arts, and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra.

Suzanne enjoys hiking, movies, piano, chamber playing, and grandparenting!

Chet Stern

Chet SternChet Stern practiced law for 25 years and is now a commercial landlord.

Stern has a B.A. from Amherst College and his J.D. from the University of Chicago.  He is a past President of Friends of Chamber Music and has served on the board for more than 25 years.  He currently chairs the Nominating Committee. Read more ...

Walter J. Torres

Walter TorresWalter Torres is a clinical and forensic psychologist. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder and internship from Harvard Medical School.  Torres has been in private practice in Colorado since 1988, also serving on the Attorney Regulation Committee of the Colorado Supreme Court from 2004-2009. Torres has been on the board of Friends of Chamber Music since 1997, currently sitting on the Marketing Committee.  His personal interests include classical music, the entire range of Latin American music, dancing, and singing. 

Sam Wagonfeld

Sam WagonfeldSam Wagonfeld is a practicing Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst.  He has his B.A. from Cornell University and his M.D. from the University of Chicago.  He interned at Colorado General (now University of Colorado Medical Center) and served his residency at the University of Michigan. Wagonfeld has been a long-time Friends of Chamber Music board member.  He is also actively involved in the Douglas Society, supporting the development of the Native American art collection at the Denver Art Museum.

Sam enjoys fly fishing, golf, and art collecting ﹣ specifically art of the Inuit.  He is a flute player, and in past years played in a flute trio with FCM friends, including board member Myra Rich.

Desiree Parrott-Alcorn, Program Administrator

Desiree Parrott-AlcornDesiree Parrott-Alcorn is a Nonprofit Administrator/Consultant.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Regis University.  Past positions include Assistant Director of Development for the Colorado Symphony and Director of Development for the Arvada Center.  Read more ...

Desiree has been working on a contract basis for Friends of Chamber Music for eight years, assisting with grant writing, marketing, subscription sales/renewals and management of FCM’s school outreach program. 

A graduate of Leadership Jefferson County, Desiree has held board positions with the Arvada Charity Ball, Youth Leadership Jefferson County, and the Denver Concert Band.   She is currently active on the board of Project Prepare and also serves as board secretary for Up Close and Musical and the Duncan Family YMCA.

Desiree plays the french horn, performing with a local brass quintet.  She enjoys music, theater, reading, and biking, as well as keeping up with her husband and three sons.
