Friends of Chamber Music

Piano Series Concerts 2007-2008

Friends of Chamber Music was excited to offer its first-ever piano series - a trio of three concerts featuring nationally renowned pianists - in 2007-2008. This series was offered in addition to our main concert series, and included a progression of piano repertoire ranging from early classical through more contemporary works. Piano recitals have been in high demand with many of you and we wanted this new series to be appealing to both both current and future audiences.

Opening our piano series was pianist Angela Hewitt, recently named Gramophone artist of the year. Hewitt opened the piano series with a performance of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I, and continued with Book II for the opening of our main series. Also on our piano series was a performance by German pianist  Markus Groh, substituting for Krystian Zimerman who was indisposed. Montreal virtuoso Marc-André Hamelin wraps up the season on May 14.
